The most important cultural movement of the first half of the 20th century, Modern Art Week represented a true renewal of language, as art transitioned from avant-garde to modernism. On this tour, passengers will experience a glimpse of the cultural shift experienced by the period's leading artists. We'll visit key locations in the movement, such as the house of writer Mário de Andrade, now a cultural workshop; Mario Covas Park, the site of René Thiollier's house; and the venue for the art week planning meetings; and the São Paulo Municipal Theater, the event's venue.
Route: Mário Covas Park (Paulista Avenue, the native forest of the place was listed and is original from the period) / Mário de Andrade's House (Barra Funda) / Oswald de Andrade's Garçonnière (Rua Líbero Badaró, 89) / Musical Dramatic Conservatory (Praça das Artes) / São Paulo Municipal Theater (Downtown) / Consolação Cemetery (site of the tomb of Oswald de Andrade, Mário de Andrade and Tarsila do Amaral)
Daily departures (Tuesday through Saturday, excluding holidays, includes an inside tour of the Mário de Andrade House and the São Paulo Municipal Theater, subject to capacity). Duration: 4 hours. Admission: All locations are free. Language: Portuguese, English, or Spanish (tour guide included).
