- Bruges or Brussels - Belgium
Bruges is a Belgian city with centuries of history and largely preserved medieval architecture. It's called the "Venice of the North" because of the numerous canals that surround or cross it.
The medieval Halletoren Tower is the largest and most important building in the city. Built in the 13th century, it is the very heart of the city and serves as a landmark for all Bruges tours. Those who climb the 366 steps will enjoy a wonderful, comprehensive view of the city.
The City Hall, one of the oldest in the Netherlands, is also one of the city's must-see attractions. One of its most famous rooms is the Heilige-Bloedbasilieke chapel. For about 850 years, it has housed a piece of cloth marked with the blood of Christ, and to this day, this relic is kept in a crystal urn.
Brussels, the capital of Europe, is considered the capital of the European Union. It is the headquarters of the European Commission and the European Council, and is responsible for 75% of the work of the European Parliament. Perhaps for this reason, it has a reputation for being a serious and multilingual city.
Besides being a diplomatic capital, it's welcoming, its residents hospitable, and its attractions are truly fascinating. This is evidenced by the city's main symbol, the Manneken Pis, a tiny statue of a boy peeing.
Another example is the Atomium, an iron molecule magnified billions of times, or the Grand Place, considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world.
Brussels is also a very green city. Its four thousand hectares of parks and forests provide 40 square meters of chlorophyll per inhabitant. One of the greenest cities in Europe.
