On this tour, you'll learn about the history of the beautiful city of Fortaleza. The first settlers in Ceará were the Portuguese, who, after winning the dispute with the Dutch over the region, founded the small village that would officially become the city of Fortaleza da Nossa Senhora da Assunção on April 13, 1726. Currently home to 2.2 million inhabitants, it is the fifth-largest city in Brazil, boasting historic buildings such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Central Market, the Mausoleum of President Castelo Branco, Martyrs' Square, the Tourism Center, the Statue of Iracema, Meireles Beach with its famous handicrafts, the beach that houses the Port of Mucuripe, and the famous Praia do Futuro.
37 km from Fortaleza, in Caucaia, lies Cumbuco Beach. Originally a fishing village, Cumbuco is a wonderful region with stunning sand dunes, small oases with coconut trees, crystal-clear lakes, and a variety of activities. Besides swimming, Cumbuco offers a range of leisure options (not included), such as a rustic raft ride, a fun donkey and horse ride, and a surprising buggy ride through the shifting dunes, complete with a photo stop and a refreshing dip in the Parnamirim Lagoon.
