TourCoastal coast - Santos and Guarujá

The cities of Santos and the island of Guarujá are two coastal municipalities, close to São Paulo and very popular with Paulistanos (inhabitants of the city of São Paulo).

Both locations are approximately 80km from São Paulo and are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, known for its waters with excellent conditions for swimming.

After about an hour's drive, along a modern highway that crosses large stretches of Atlantic Forest, we arrive in Santos, home to Latin America's largest seaport. The landscape of containers and ships is impressive, and the economic boom is immediately apparent to visitors. This port, the country's main freight depot, was once the main gateway for thousands of immigrants who arrived in Brazil from the late 19th century onward, primarily to work on coffee plantations.

While still in Santos, you'll explore the city's main tourist attractions, located in the historic center and along the waterfront. You'll discover how coffee production influenced the local lifestyle and customs, and learn more about important Santos figures who played a significant role in the history of the state of São Paulo and Brazil.

We'll continue our tour by ferry to Guarujá Island. Guarujá Island became popular as one of the state of São Paulo's top tourist destinations in the 1970s, a period of municipal expansion and a booming real estate market. It's a place with a wide range of beaches, restaurants, and viewpoints where visitors can take great photographs.

At the end of the tour, we will stop at an excellent local restaurant, where you can enjoy the greatest local specialty - seafood (meal not included).
