Check in at our office, join a one-hour walking tour through the streets of Madrid's historic center, and discover iconic landmarks you can't miss. Enjoy Plaza de la Villa, the famous Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and Plaza de Oriente. Then, board one of our air-conditioned buses for a city tour. Remember to bring your camera or smartphone!
Depart Plaza de Oriente toward the magnificent Puerta de Toledo. Did you know its construction dates back to the Napoleonic occupation? Once again on the bus, you'll see Madrid's oldest bridge, and alongside the Manzanares River, you'll have spectacular views of the Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral. Cross Calle Mayor toward Puerta del Sol and Las Cortes on your way to Paseo del Prado. Admire the architecture of the heart of old Madrid, arriving at the Barrio de las Letras.
Among the various landmarks you'll see on board the bus are the Cibeles fountain, where Real Madrid fans celebrate their team's victories, and Puerta de Alcalá, the most famous of the five ancient gates that once gave access to Madrid. See the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Paseo de la Castellana, and Plaza de Colón.
Check in again at our office in central Madrid fifteen minutes before your tour begins and head to Toledo with your local guide. Enjoy the scenery on the way to the city. Follow your local guide on a walking tour of the historic city of Toledo, a World Heritage Site since 1986. Once the capital of Spain, it is a spectacular blend of Arab, Jewish, and Christian cultures.
Learn about its fantastic heritage and discover how the coexistence of cultures over the centuries influenced its current architectural style. Stroll among the courtyard cloisters and the royal coat of arms at the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes. Admire the building, commissioned by Queen Elizabeth of Castile, which became a royal mausoleum, the most important building constructed by the Catholic monarchs.
After the visit, we'll walk to the Santa Maria la Blanca Synagogue. Originally built as a synagogue, it was expropriated and became a church only 211 years after opening its doors. Today, it's a fantastic Mudéjar-style museum that you'll visit. Admire El Greco's world-famous painting, The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, in the Church of Santo Tomé. Did you know that Greco himself lived in this wonderful city?
The guided tour will conclude in front of Toledo Cathedral, considered the most important Gothic style in Spain. Afterwards, you'll have free time to explore Toledo on your own before returning to Madrid.
