Start at Ventanillas de Combayo, an archaeological site home to burial structures carved into rocky cliffs. Explore the ancient tombs in this remote location. Then, venture into Sangal Gorge, a dramatic gorge with impressive rock formations, where you can immerse yourself in breathtaking scenery and a serene atmosphere. It's a journey through the ancient past and into the wilderness.
ITINERARY
Our trip begins at 8:30 am, leaving the city of Cajamarca, heading towards the old Hacienda de Combayo.
Located east of Cajamarca, at an altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level, we'll begin our descent from this point. After about an hour's drive, we'll reach the captivating Ventanillas de Combayo, with their remarkable collection of over a thousand niches carved into the rock.
After exploring these intriguing structures, we will continue our descent, finally reaching the Chonta River, witnessing its unique hydrographic formation and the small canyon it forms in the Tres Tingos or Shinshilpampa area.
Our adventure ends with a visit to the impressive Sangal Canyon, before returning to the city of Cajamarca. Notes: Reservations can be made up to the day before departure.
