Early morning flight to Izmir, the birthplace of Homer. Then we'll continue to Ephesus, one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the classical Greek period. Ephesus was also one of the Seven Churches of Anatolia (Asia) mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
We'll visit the ancient Greco-Roman city of Ephesus, including Marble Street, the Odeon, the Bouleterion, the Temple of Hadrian and Serapis, the Agora, the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, the Double Church, the Arcadian Way, and the Magnesian Gate. Perhaps most importantly, we'll also visit the final resting place of the Virgin Mary on Mount Solmissos.
We'll enjoy lunch in Selçuk before visiting the Isabey Mosque, one of the oldest and most impressive architectural masterpieces remaining from the Anatolian Beyliks. Finally, we'll visit the Temple of Artemis, one of the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World."
