A scenic route across the border takes you through some picturesque villages in rural Bosnia and Herzegovina as you approach the charming little town of Po?itelj. This small medieval town was built on a rocky cliff on the Neretva River and offers an excellent overview of the Ottoman Empire and the influence of Eastern culture on the small town in this area. Po?itelj is a blend of Eastern and Mediterranean building styles that give it a unique dimension. Po?itelj was first mentioned in writing in 1444 as the parish seat. The art colony, containing approximately 2,000 works of art, is continuously on display in the gallery.
The most impressive building is the Hadji-Alijina Mosque, dating from the first half of the 16th century, which dominates the city. After a brief tour, try Turkish coffee prepared according to the original recipe.
Later, take a short trip to Mostar—a city of the past, a nexus between the Western world and exotic Eastern culture. Explore the city with a local guide and hear all the mesmerizing historical anecdotes. You'll be mesmerized by the sight of the famous Stari Most (Old Bridge)—a majestic stone arch above the Neretva River, connecting two medieval towers and giving the city a widely recognizable visual identity. Here, you can witness a beautiful spectacle put on especially for the city's visitors—young locals show off their daring acrobatics, throwing themselves from the twenty-meter-high Old Bridge into the icy waters of the Neretva River. Mind you, no one can perform these acrobatic tricks! There's an exclusive intensive course you must pay for and attend before anyone will let you jump into the river from that height. So relax and enjoy while the professionals do it to their best!
Cross the bridge to explore the Ottoman Quarter, which was beautifully restored after the war in the 1990s. Check out the Old Bazaar and Mosque, then explore the city on your own after a walking tour with a local guide. This city will inspire you with its oriental streets and buildings, friendly people, delicious food, and a distinct café culture that may remind you of Turkey. So make the most of your free time here in Mostar by sitting back and relaxing in one of the terraces, trying traditional food, or exploring the vast array of souvenir shops to take home some unique, oriental-inspired souvenirs.
The return trip to Split takes you through the rocky landscapes of Herzegovina to the fantastic natural wonder known as Kravica Waterfall, where you can enjoy the incredible views and perhaps even jump into the refreshing river waters to cool off. The Kravica Waterfalls are one of the most beautiful natural sites in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The area boasts vegetation with chaste trees, poplars, and figs. This is a perfect spot to enjoy untouched nature, even though it's protected by the government.
After arriving in Split or Trogir, you will be dropped off at the same location where you were picked up in the morning.
