- Stories in Blue: Discover Porto through its tiles, an art that tells stories
On a three-hour tour through the streets of Porto, ancient tiles guide us on a true journey through Portuguese history. We begin at São Bento Station, where more than 20,000 blue and white tiles depict historical scenes, such as the Battle of Valdevez and King John I's entry into the city.
Next, we head to the imposing Cathedral, where the cloister reveals religious ceramic panels that contrast with the building's Romanesque austerity. We'll come across the Church of Santo Ildefonso, whose 20th-century façade chronicles the life of its patron saint. Following Rua 31 de Janeiro, we'll reach the Capela das Almas (Cape of Souls), famous for its exterior tiles depicting the lives of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine.
And finally, we'll marvel at the Carmo Church, whose 18th-century tiled side stands out as a true masterpiece. Each panel, each detail, connects us with the past, transforming the tour into an artistic and cultural immersion into the soul of Porto.
