- Altiplanic Lagoons, Piedras Rojas Viewpoint and Salar de Atacama (Laguna Chaxa) with lunch
We will travel south from San Pedro de Atacama towards the Paso Sico border crossing. Our first stop will be at the Los Flamencos National Reserve, in the Laguna Chaxa area, where we will see flamingos in their natural habitat. There, we will learn about the richness and importance of microbial diversity in the Salar de Atacama, understanding how it contributes to the balance of this unique ecosystem.
Afterwards, we will head to the Altiplanic Lagoons, where we will explore at least two regularly accessible trails to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons. From these trails, we will admire the beauty of the deep blue waters of the lagoons, framed by the imposing volcanoes that make the landscape even more impressive.
We will then continue our journey to Piedras Rojas, where we will hike to the closest point to the Salar de Talar. We will be at the foot of the fascinating Red Stones, which will contrast with the white of the salt flat, creating a picturesque setting perfect for memorable photographs.
Finally, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama around 4:30 pm, after a day full of discoveries and unforgettable landscapes.
