ITINERARY
Depart Barcelona aboard one of our comfortable buses to Montserrat. Together with your guide, you'll have two options to reach the center of Montserrat: by cogwheel train or by cable car (Aeri). With both options, you'll enjoy stunning views. World-famous for its rocky landscape, Montserrat Mountain was declared a National Park in 1987 to protect its cultural and natural heritage.
Follow your local guide and discover the monastery's history and architectural style. Fall in love with the fusion of Gothic and Renaissance styles in its basilica and sanctuary. Discover that the site's importance stems from the legend that tells of the miraculous appearance of a representation of the Virgin and Child Jesus in one of the mountain caves, Santa Cova. Visit this wooden carving, now preserved in the monastery church. The figure is popularly known as La Moreneta (The Moreneta) due to a reaction of the varnish over time, which darkened it.
Montserrat is closely linked to spirituality. Today, a community of 80 monks inhabits the site, following the rule of Saint Benedict. Therefore, in addition to the main monastery, the mountain is home to a large number of churches and hermitages, some of which are now abandoned. Your guided tour includes a cogwheel train ride, a tasting of excellent local liqueurs, a visit to the Audiovisual Space, and access to Moreneta. After the guided tour, you'll have free time to admire the fabulous landscape and visit the market selling local produce and local products.

*Hiking trails: The mountain is full of trails for all levels. For fantastic panoramic views, we recommend hiking to Cruz de São Miguel (approximately a fifteen-minute walk from the monastery). Notes: * Correct dress code may be required for entry to Montserrat: Tank tops, shorts or sandals are not permitted.
* Check-in is scheduled 15 minutes before the tour starts. Failure to show up at check-in may result in forfeiture of the tour.
* Please note that the weather is mountainous and depending on the season you will need warm or rain clothing.
