This 3-hour Osaka night food tour will take you on an unforgettable culinary excursion through the bustling streets and hidden, less-traveled parts of Minami (South) Osaka. Starting in the bright and bustling Doutonburi area, we'll learn about Glico Man, a Filipino sprinter named Fortunato Catalon who inspired a nation and a company! Similar to Shibuya (its Tokyo counterpart), the lights and sounds of Doutonburi often lead you to overly commercialized restaurants with lines of tourists outside. We aim to take our guests to places they would surely miss without the guidance of a local. We'll head down secret alleys shortly after the tour begins, heading towards the shrine, hidden from the view of the average passerby.
We'll sample Kushikatsu (fried meat and vegetable skewers), a local take on Yakitori, and surprise you with a Michelin-rated street food stop for Osaka's favorite snack—Takoyaki! (a grilled octopus ball). Next, travel through narrower alleys and see some of the more unconventional restaurants and pubs. Your guide will take you to a local spot for dinner. This shop is an Izakaya, or local pub, with seasonal dishes that will intrigue and delight. You'll get to try regional dishes and a drink. This place is very local; you won't find any tourists here! Try a draft beer or a Nihonshu (rice wine) with your tasty meal.
Please be aware that there may be substitutions and changes to food on this tour based on season and availability.
From there, we'll show you a famous building full of unorthodox bars hidden away, one after the other. Every 1.5 meters, there's a new door with a new adventure. This area gives you the retro and artistic feel of a very modern and unique collection of bars. Finally, finish with a delicious local street food dessert! After saying goodbye to your guide, you can explore this fascinating part of the city on your own.
