For this reason, Paris, one of the European capitals that hosted the movement, became known as the City of Lights. The invention of streetlights with oil lamps for decoration only reinforced its fame at the turn of the 20th century.
Now, in the 21st century, the Parisian lights are different and continue to enchant the world. The technology of electricity has become art. And at night, the light show transforms the Napoleonic capital into another city. The monuments and architectural symbols under the spotlights are an unmissable spectacle, as are the various shimmering gardens and reflecting pools.
