With a guide born in Coimbra and alumnus of the city's legendary University, you'll have the opportunity to explore one of Portugal's most fascinating cities. Birthplace of kings—Christians, Muslims, Jews, Romans, and Visigoths—this ancient capital is rich in history and full of magnificent places to explore.
The highlight of the tour will be the University of Coimbra, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. We'll begin with a tour of the exterior of the institution and then continue on to a visit to the Botanical Garden, a charming space that combines nature and history.
Next, we'll stroll through medieval streets, visiting the Old Cathedral, one of the Castle Towers, and other historical landmarks that reveal Coimbra's unique past. We'll conclude our visit by exploring the city center, its squares, churches, and, especially, the Monastery of Santa Cruz, a landmark of local architecture and history.
