ITINERARY
Unforgettable adventure tours south of Huaraz to snow-capped Pastoruri and the beautiful landscapes of the Cordillera Blanca.
We will pass through the picturesque villages of: Recuay (3,422 masl), Ticapampa (3,456 masl) and Catac (3,466 masl), where we will stop for a coca tea against altitude sickness. The first place to visit is the source of natural carbonated waters.
Continuing our tour, we'll leave the paved road and head towards the Pachacoto ravine. We'll reach the PATOCOCHA lagoon, home to a variety of wild ducks. We'll see the sparkling spring of PUMAPAMPA, also known as the 'fountain of youth,' and a small, seven-colored lagoon called UMAPASHIMIN. We'll encounter the most representative plants of the Peruvian Andes, which can reach up to 12 meters in height and live for approximately 100 years.
We will make a brief stop to see the Puya Raimondi, a plant representative of the Andes, which can grow up to 12 meters tall, produces clusters of up to 8,000 flowers and lives up to 100 years, but once it blooms it dies.
We will observe cave painting murals.
We will take a walk of about 1 hour (one way) until we reach the snow-capped Pastoruri (5,000 meters above sea level), we will walk along its large ice walls that give us an understanding of the atrocious retreat of the glaciers due to global warming of our planet and we will have impressive views of the mountainous landscape that surrounds this place.
Here you can enjoy contact with the snow and the frozen lake.
After lunch in Catac, we returned to Huaraz. Notes: Reservations can be made up to the day before departure.
