From glamour to ghosts, discover the intriguing stories that make Preston Manor a place of mystery and charm.
Visit Preston Mansion, a former mansion located in the village of Preston, now part of the Brighton & Hove area. The magnificent mansion belonged to the Stanford family for over 200 years and is currently open to the public. Although the house was built in the late 18th century, parts of its architecture date back even further, dating back to the 13th century. Today, the restored building is a listed building and is furnished with Edwardian furniture and collections from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
Enter the mansion and be transported to the Edwardian era. Explore over 20 rooms spread across four floors, including the butler's pantry in the basement and the attic bedrooms on the top floor. Known as one of the most haunted places in the UK, learn about the ghosts of Preston Manor as you explore!
Discover damp lawns and secret doors as you stroll through the walled gardens. Bursting with enchanting colors and fragrances, stroll through the gardens and admire the beautiful lily pond, croquet lawn, and gravel paths. The garden is full of surprises, including an unusual pet cemetery. Over the years, 16 dogs and 4 cats were buried here, most of which belonged to Eleanor MacDonalds, who lived at Preston Manor until her death in 1903.
