Activity description
Chile's capital is a vibrant, characterful city with a thriving artistic culture, trendy restaurants, and a lively nightlife. Surrounded by mountains—the mighty Andes to the east and the smaller coastal range to the west—on clear days, Santiago boasts one of the most stunning urban settings in the world. Old-world colonial mansions and eclectic neighborhoods seamlessly integrate the skyscrapers of "Sanhattan" in a captivating fusion of tradition and modernity. With world-class skiing, wine routes, cycling, and trekking right on its doorstep, Santiago is a city full of exciting possibilities.
Our tour begins with airport pickup, where our driver will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it. Once you're finally picked up, our driver will drive to the meeting point in Santiago with our local tour guide, who will introduce you and teach you about Santiago. We'll begin along the city's main avenue, learning about its history and surroundings. We'll then descend to the cobblestone neighborhood of Lastarría, a neighborhood characterized by its green spaces and beautiful 19th-century houses, now restored and used primarily as cafes, restaurants, bookstores, and museums.
Next, we'll head to Cerro Santa Lucia, where we'll have time to walk and take photos while our guide recounts some of the most important episodes in Santiago's history, such as the Mapuche-Spanish conflict. From its terraces, we'll enjoy panoramic views of Santiago and admire relics and buildings from the colonial era, such as Castillo Hidalgo.
We'll head to our next stop, and along the way, we'll visit iconic landmarks such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral of Santiago and its impressive architecture, and the former National Congress. We'll reach the imposing government building called La Moneda and, next to it, the Plaza de la Constitución. We'll explore its surroundings and learn more about its important and interesting history.
Once in our vehicle, the tour continues with a stop at the Central Market, one of Santiago's most characteristic gastronomic spots, and then continues to the capital's upper sector. Along the way, we'll stop at a lapis lazuli shop where we can admire and/or purchase beautiful jewelry and unique handicrafts. Afterward, we'll conclude the tour, and you can choose where you'd like to be dropped off. You can return to the airport to board your flight to your final destination, or if you're arriving on a flight and want a PRIVATE city tour and then drop off at your hotel or any other location, this is your best option, as we can arrange it however you prefer!
