Dolmabahçe Palace, the recent residence of the Ottoman sultans, was built by two Ottoman architects, Karabet and Nikogos Balyan, on an area of 110,000 m2 and served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. Famous for its large collection of European antiques, furniture, and 4.5-ton chandeliers, the palace boasts 285 rooms and 46 halls.
