Discover Szentendre, the picturesque artists’ village in the Danube Bend
Ready for a history lesson with the best views? Szentendre is a small baroque city built on medieval ruins, located at the gate of the Danube Bend. Thanks to its Mediterranean vibe and closeness to Budapest, the locals love it as much as you will. Visit the town considered to be the Artist's Village or the Painters' Town. Following a 30-minute bus ride to Szentendre you'll take a stroll around the historical centre and soak up the atmosphere of the cobblestoned narrow streets, baroque houses and churches. Try some "Lángos" (fried Hungarian flatbread) and opt to visit some museums, like the Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum, or the Confectionery Museum with its cute marzipan figures. You could also shop for some Hungarian souvenirs. In summer (May - September, only on weekends) you'll return to Budapest by boat.
