- Archiginnasio Tour, Clock Tower and Food Tasting

If you're a fan of architecture and culinary traditions, don't miss this opportunity to visit one of Bologna's most famous buildings: the Archiginnasio.
Curious to discover the art and culture that characterize the city of Bologna? Then come visit us in Emilia-Romagna, where one of the most iconic and important historical buildings in the Bologna region awaits you: the Archiginnasio of Bologna. Historically, the building was home to one of the oldest universities in Italy, and not only that, in the world. Today, however, it houses the Archiginnasio Municipal Library, the largest in the region. In the library, you can find historically and culturally relevant texts, ranging from the humanities to the sciences. If you're interested in learning more about Italian culture, this is the perfect place for you!
Architecturally, the Archiginnasio has two floors with a front porch and a courtyard.
The building's facade, designed by Antonio Morandi, is an example of Bologna's character.
The courtyard, with its double loggia, forms the core of the structure. Decorated with coats of arms and painted testimonies on the walls, it tells the story of key events in the Archiginnasio. On the east side of the courtyard, you can visit the Chapel of Saint Mary of the Bulgarians. The chapel houses the cycle of Stories of the Life of the Virgin by artist Bartolomeo Cesi, one of the greatest exponents of late 16th-century figurative art.
Have we convinced you to learn more about Archiginnasio? Then book with us!
After your visit, you'll also have the chance to sample some of the local produce, so enjoy a taste of Bologna's culture, architectural tradition, and culinary delights.
