- Archaeological Tour with Atacameña Tasting
We will explore the history and culture of the Atacama people, made up of shepherds, farmers and warriors who fought bravely to defend their territories. Our visit will begin at Pukará de Quitor, a walled city that preserves remains of houses, warehouses and places of coexistence. In this historic space, we will learn how the Atacama people organized themselves to survive, resisting invasions such as those of the Incas and Europeans, while building a resilient and strategically structured society.
We will then head to the village of Tulor, an impressive archaeological site with circular houses partially buried under a dune in the middle of the desert. This village, considered the first of the Lickanantay culture, will allow us to imagine what life was like for the ancient inhabitants of Atacama, with their ingenuity in living in harmony with the challenging desert environment.
To conclude our experience, we will visit the Atacama indigenous community of Coyo, where we will participate in a special tasting of local products. We will taste unique flavors of the region, such as chañar, quinoa and carob, appreciating the richness of Atacama cuisine and the cultural legacy preserved by its descendants.
