The Shirley-Eustis House is the lone survivor of the grand country houses that dominated Roxbury's landscape in the 18th century. Built in 1747-1751 as a summer estate, Governor Shirley also made a grand statement about the presence and authority of the British Empire in America by choosing the high Palladian style.
