- A day in Arcachon Bay
Arcachon Bay is a beautiful bay located just 55 minutes by car from Bordeaux.
Its 1,500 hectares are fed by the Atlantic Ocean, forming an inland sea with the colors of a lagoon, delimited on one side by a dune of fine white sand that reaches 110 meters, called Pilat Dune.
This dune is the largest sand dune in Europe! From its top you can also admire the beautiful Landes forest.
We'll climb the Dune du Pilat and be rewarded with a glass of white wine!
We will enjoy the stunning views of the ocean, the bay and the forest.
Next, our guide will show you the unique 19th-century architecture of the winter quarters of the city of Arcachon and the magnificent coastline of Pereire beach.
We'll take some photos of these eccentric houses and understand why the French upper class built villas here.
We will enjoy lunch at a local producer and try oysters, a specialty from Arcachon Bay, accompanied by a glass of white wine.
