Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palace of Versailles was the residence of the French monarchy of Louis XIV, Louis XV, and Louis XVI from 1682 until the French Revolution in 1789. With audio commentary, explore the majestic palace at your leisure: its Baroque architecture, sumptuous decorations, art objects, and furniture crafted by the greatest craftsmen of the time. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the gardens.
The Palace of Versailles comprises over 700 rooms and covers an area of 67,000 m2. The audio guide helps you find your way around during your visit, discover the castle's history, and immerse yourself in its atmosphere. Enter the most beautiful rooms: the King's Grand Apartment with seven rooms, each themed after a mythical god (the rooms of Apollo, Mars, Mercury, Venus, etc.); the Queen's Grand Apartment, arranged symmetrically to the king's, with the Coronation Room; and even the Queen's bedroom, occupied primarily by Marie Antoinette. Also visit the magnificent Hall of Mirrors of Versailles, a reception space designed by the prestigious architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. At 73 m long and intended to dazzle visitors of the Sun King, Louis XIV, it is illuminated by 17 windows and 350 mirrors, and opens onto the palace's splendid gardens.
In 1661, Louis XIV commissioned André Le Nôtre to design the park and gardens of the Palace of Versailles, which were as important to the king as the castle itself. Explore the gardens of Versailles at your leisure and admire the works of art (over 200 statues), fountains, basins, paths, and woodlands. During the warmer months, various attractions are offered, such as the Grandes Aguas, with fountains that dance to the rhythm of music.
