The experience begins at the top of Passeig de Gràcia, before traveling to experience the natural splendor of Montserrat, Catalonia's most emblematic mountain, topped by a Benedictine monastery. Montserrat is an ideal trip for a fun day out in nature, just a few kilometers from Barcelona.
On the way to the Monastery, admire the Montserrat Massif, a spectacular multi-peaked rocky outcrop dotted with unique needle-like formations. Upon arrival, visit the Monastery, which was founded in the 10th century and still operates today, with over 70 monks. It is also known for housing the figure of La Moreneta (visit not guaranteed), the patron saint of Catalonia. Your guide will bring the story to life, explaining the history and achievements of this monastery, which dates back nearly a thousand years.
A bus will take you to the farm, where you will have a farm-to-table lunch based on a delicious 3-course menu; first course salad, second course barbecue combination (vegetarian and halal option) and dessert with stunning views. In August, the restaurant will not be as usual, but you will be able to enjoy the views of Montserrat.
Once you see this massif from a distance, it's easier to understand the importance of this mountain when it comes to influencing the traditions and culture of the surrounding regions.
The farm's terraces and fields have been cultivated for hundreds of years. Currently, there are 2,700 trees of the area's varieties, including Palomar and Vera. After this full day of adventure, you'll return to central Barcelona by private transportation.
