Venture on one of Mexico City's most colorful and enriching tours! This immersive experience combines art, history, and tradition, taking travelers to the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum, the majestic murals of UNAM, the colonial charm of Coyoacán, and the vibrant canals of Xochimilco, known as the Place of Flowers.
The trip begins in Coyoacán, whose name in Nahuatl means "place of the coyotes." A local guide shares the origins and cultural significance of this historic neighborhood, once home to artists, revolutionaries, and intellectuals. There's time to stroll its cobblestone streets and, for those who wish, enjoy a light breakfast (not included).
For those who choose the museum option, the next stop is the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as La Casa Azul. This cobalt-blue house, where Frida was born and later died, offers a deeply personal glimpse into her life and work. The museum displays her artwork, folk art, pre-Hispanic artifacts, and personal objects that reflect her unique vision and lasting legacy.
The tour continues to Ciudad Universitaria, the main campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the campus is home to more than 110 murals, including masterpieces by Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros. The guide provides information on the symbolism and historical context of these monumental works.
Next, the experiment continues to Xochimilco, one of Frida's favorite places and a living vestige of ancient Mexico. Upon arrival, a stop is made at a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch, included only for those who selected the lunch option. The day concludes with a ride on a trajinera, a colorful gondola-like vessel that glides through Xochimilco's ancient canals. Surrounded by floating gardens, festive music, and a vibrant landscape, this final activity offers a joyful celebration of Mexico's living heritage. Notes: If you want to visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, you must select this option. If you don't, you won't be able to visit.
Please note when booking that the Frida Kahlo Museum is closed on Mondays.
