We'll enjoy a short walk through Antigua Guatemala and a tour of Guatemala City. You'll be picked up from your hotel in Guatemala City and transferred to Antigua Guatemala to begin your approximately three-hour tour. We'll begin our tour by visiting the Church of La Merced, built in Guatemalan ultra-baroque style and featuring two bell towers. On the church's facade, at its top, is a sculpture of Saint Pedro Nolasco, founder of the Mercedarian Order. We'll continue our tour by visiting the Arco de Santa Catalina, built to connect the nuns between cloisters to avoid being seen. Next, we'll head to Central Park, where we'll see important buildings and the Las Sirenas fountain. We'll visit Tanque La Unión, one of the city's most iconic laundries, opened in 1853. Lunch (not included). Transfer to Guatemala City. We'll begin our tour on Avenida Las Américas, named after the renovations carried out at the end of the 19th century, marking the formation of the Organization of American States on April 30, 1948. We'll pass Berlin Square and Avenida La Reforma, whose design is based on French avenues. We'll continue our tour until we reach the Iglesia de Yurrita, a private chapel built for Felipe Yurrita. We'll continue our tour through the city's Civic Center, where several government buildings are concentrated. Continue to the Plaza Mayor de la Constitución, surrounded by important monuments such as the National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral, among others. Finally, we'll visit the Mercado Central, located behind the Metropolitan Cathedral, where we'll see a variety of merchandise, including clothing, textiles, food, and handicrafts, among other items. At the end of the tour, we'll be transferred to your hotel in Guatemala City. Notes: A minimum of two adults is required for the tour to operate.
