Depart in the morning for the Sacred Valley. You'll be greeted by an incredible community reception. After the welcome ceremony, you'll begin the Decoding Andean Textiles activity, which begins with an explanation of all the different organic materials used to make natural dyes—the plants they come from, their symbolism, and their other uses (many also have medicinal qualities). The second activity is shearing, cleaning, and winding the sheep or alpaca wool used in fabrics—followed by a demonstration of how the wool is dyed by boiling. The iconography used in fabrics is extremely important to the Amaru residents—and throughout this activity, a local guide will explain the most important motifs behind each symbol woven into the fabric. Afterwards, you'll enjoy an incredible lunch of local cuisine prepared fresh with local ingredients. We'll say goodbye and return to your hotel. Notes: Babies should sit on laps
