- A tour of the villages of Crete, including the Patsos Gorge.

Meet your guide at the Cretan Spiti Travel terminal, opposite the entrance to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, next to Creperia Hari, at 8:30 am. From there, we will continue our journey to our first stop, Zaros, a charming and well-preserved village, famous for its spring water—now bottled and sold throughout Greece—and considered an excellent starting point for exploring the surrounding nature. Zaros also houses beautiful Byzantine monasteries and is known for its delicious trout raised on local farms, served in the town's taverns and on the shores of the emerald-green Lake Votomos, which we will visit.
Next, we headed to the traditional Cretan village of Vatos, a small village nestled amidst the vegetation, where we found all the elements of local tradition. Walking through its narrow streets, we visited the old school and its fountain, as well as the museum with tools and agricultural implements from bygone eras. We finished the visit at a traditional distillery, where raki, the famous Cretan alcoholic beverage, is produced.
Our next stop is Spili, known for its Venetian fountain with a long row of 25 lion heads carved in stone, from whose mouths fresh water gushes. Optional lunch in Spili.
Next, we visited Lampini, including the church and museum of Panagia. The church has a dome and houses frescoes from the 12th and 14th centuries. It is an ancient episcopal church, since the village of Lampini was, in the past, the seat of the famous Bishopric of Lampis, which existed since the year 431.
Next, we will continue to the São Antônio Gorge (Patsos Gorge), where we will hike along a beautiful trail through lush vegetation to the São Antônio grotto.
In the late afternoon, at 6:30 PM, return to the Cretan Spiti Travel terminal.
