Activity description
This immersive full-day tour takes you through three of Tuscany's most captivating destinations, guided by an expert who shares knowledge and accompanies you on unique experiences. In a small group, you'll enjoy a comfortable and intimate journey, allowing you to interact directly with locals and discover the places that make Tuscany such a special destination.
Departing from Florence, you'll head to Volterra, an ancient hilltop town with Etruscan, Roman, and medieval roots. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the grandeur of Piazza dei Priori, inviting you to stroll through its narrow medieval streets. You'll marvel at the imposing city walls, the ancient gates, and the remains of the Roman Theater in the enchanting archaeological site. Volterra's atmosphere is shrouded in mystery, with its rich and enigmatic Etruscan legacy echoing through the centuries. It's no surprise that this town was chosen as the setting for the Twilight saga, making it a must-see destination for fans. As part of your exclusive experience, you'll visit an alabaster workshop (*), where a master craftsman will demonstrate the traditional techniques used to carve this beautiful translucent stone—mined and worked in this region for millennia.
Next, we head to Pisa, where you'll find one of the world's most iconic landmarks: the Leaning Tower, situated in the splendid Piazza dei Miracoli. While the Tower is the main attraction, Pisa has much more to offer: a blend of history and culture that you can explore at your own pace with a self-guided experience through an interactive app included in the tour. You'll have the freedom to explore the square and its monuments, while the app provides stories and interesting facts about this ancient city. Pisa is also the ideal place to enjoy a delicious Tuscan lunch at a local trattoria (if option selected), where you can savor typical homemade dishes.
The last stop on your journey will be the picturesque city of Lucca. Famous for its impressive Renaissance walls, this city offers an authentic and intimate atmosphere. Admire the Cathedral of San Martino, the Guinigi Tower with its iconic oak garden at the top, step into the surprising embrace of Piazza Anfiteatro, explore the colorful and vibrant piazzas, and, if you wish, take a short walk along a section of the ancient walls for panoramic views.
A drink accompanied by a tasting of buccellato, Lucca's traditional sweet bread, awaits you at a historic pastry shop in the center: an authentic and delicious way to savor Lucca's culinary heritage. At the end of the day, you'll return to Florence with unforgettable memories and a true appreciation for the beauty, history, and traditions of Tuscany.
(*) If not available, it will be replaced by a visit to authentic craft shops, with traditional and typical works of the village.
Please note that the order of visits may change.
