Nothing in the world of water compares to or is more impressive than the natural spectacle provided by the group of 275 waterfalls that form the Iguaçu Falls.
Located a few kilometers from the junction of the Iguaçu River and the Paraná River, the waterfalls are impressive due to their size, water flow and the strength of the currents.
The geological shift that created Iguaçu Falls occurred about 150 million years ago and shook the Earth's crust around the globe. In the Iguaçu region, these changes created a gigantic canyon with rocky steps through which the Iguaçu River flows, producing a huge cloud of steam and a deafening sound.
The average flow of the Falls is about 1,800 m3 per second, an average of 10 million liters per second. During the rainy season, the river's flow increases, producing an even more beautiful spectacle.
The largest waterfall is the Devil's Throat, 90 meters high. The sheer volume of water creates a cloud of droplets that can be seen from miles away.
Parque das Aves is conveniently located at the entrance to Iguaçu National Park, fully integrated into the local natural area. Meet and photograph hundreds of different native and exotic birds, snakes, alligators, marmosets, and butterflies in this vast space filled with aviaries and trails that lead deep into the jungle.
