During the 1970s and 1980s, while it was under construction, the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant was considered a pharaonic project, the fruit of Brazil's megalomaniacal rulers of the time. Today, three decades later, the outlook is very different.
Responsible for producing 95% of the electricity consumed in Paraguay and 24% of all Brazilian consumption, this binational company built by workers, technical operators and engineers from Brazil and Paraguay proves its magnitude on a national and international level day after day.
Beyond energy production, Itaipu also stands out as a symbol of environmental preservation. The company has ongoing reforestation programs and projects that promote fish production and wildlife reproduction.
On this tour, you'll be able to take the panoramic tour. Since the ticket is not included, you'll pay for it on site:
* ITAIPU PANORAMIC VIEW: The sheer scale of a power plant built between two countries, revealed in numbers, is astonishing: the Itaipu dam is 7,919 meters long and 196 meters high. But when viewed up close and from various angles on a Panoramic View tour, it's even more impressive, guaranteeing a unique and memorable experience.
In addition to the privileged view of the spillway at the top of the dam, the route also allows contact with nature and beautiful landscapes within the Itaipu Tourist Complex.
