Activity description
Enter the heart of the true Tuscany with medieval villages of incomparable charm, an ancient agricultural tradition that produces wine, cheese, cold cuts and excellent meat recognized and appreciated throughout the world to this day.
The beauty of the landscape blends harmoniously, where nature and humankind have coexisted for centuries in unbeatable balance. Through the hilly expanses of ancient vineyards and olive groves that characterize the splendid Chianti region, we arrive in Greve, where we can appreciate the charm of its historic square flanked by open galleries and stroll through the typical shops selling local crafts and Chianti products. We continue with a stop in Castellina, an ancient, characteristic village perched on a hill, where we visit a charming and historic winery. Just outside the village, in one of the area's most famous vineyards, you'll be guided through a tasting of various Chianti wines, extra virgin olive oil on Tuscan bread, vin santo with locally produced cantuccini, and lavender honey. Following a scenic road, we can admire the picturesque village of Monteriggioni, a small medieval gem still surrounded by its ancient walls. Further on, we reach the unmistakable clay landscape of the Crete Senesi, a mountainous desert territory that evokes unforgettable emotions. Continuing, we arrive at an area that contrasts strikingly with the territory of Crete, immersed in the verdant Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a harmonious landscape of hills dotted with cypress trees, interrupted by castles, churches, ancient villages of Etruscan origin, and farms that line the famous Via Francigena route. Here, in a historic farmhouse, we will be served a guided lunch-tasting of the renowned Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello, and Supertuscan wines, along with a large selection of typical regional products and a delicious homemade fruit tart. All this is followed by a visit to the wineries and some leisure time to enjoy nature. Next, we will stop in the medieval village of Montalcino, with its walled border enriched with towers, and the imposing 14th-century fortress that offers one of the most beautiful views of the Val d'Orcia. Moltalcino also has narrow streets lined with dozens of wineries and artisan shops selling local products. Finally, after a short drive on a scenic road, we arrive at Montepulciano, surrounded by walls and situated on a hill 600 meters above sea level between the Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana regions. The town is known for its Noble wine obtained from the surrounding vineyards.
