TourBlumenau City Tour - German Spirit in Brazil

After hotel pickup, the tour begins with a visit to the historic center of the Brazilian beer capital. Highlights include the Biergarten, where the city began. Nearby is Alameda Duque de Caxias, also known as Alameda das Palmeiras (Palm Trees Avenue). It was the first planned street in the colony. The first imperial palm trees, brought from Rio de Janeiro, were planted in the center of the avenue in 1876. The Colonial Family Museum (optional visit), a cultural space that preserves a collection of 6,200 pieces belonging to the founder of Blumenau, the colonizers, and their families, includes historic and well-preserved furniture, clothing, accessories, household utensils, and machinery. At the back of the museum complex is the forest garden, where trees planted by the city's founder are still located, and the Cat Cemetery. You'll visit this cemetery, built by Edith, the great-niece of city founder Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau (1819-99). She had a great affection for cats. When they died, the cats were buried with a funeral procession. Over time, the site became a tourist attraction and a topic of national news.

Immediately following, a panoramic tour begins, with a 15-minute photo stop at City Hall. Afterwards, a visit to Vila Germânica Park, the site of Oktoberfest and other major Blumenau events, is included. This location features shops selling festival souvenirs and other German-themed items, as well as bars and a café. Tourists will have plenty of time to explore the village. During the tour, there will be free time to shop for knitwear, liquor, and crafts. Lunch, not included, is recommended at Churrascaria Ataliba. Take the time to shop for local artisanal products before a convenient transfer back to your hotel in Florianópolis.
