We'll ascend to the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park to begin our tour of the fortress of the same name. This stunning site exudes peace and tranquility, allowing us to marvel at the massive stones, some up to 4 meters high, used in its construction. Next, we'll visit Q'enqo, an ancient temple dedicated to the Puma, where we can see a sacrificial altar carved into a massive rock. Afterward, we'll continue to Tambomachay, known for its sacred springs that symbolize life and health. Along the way, we'll enjoy a panoramic view of Puca Pucara, a watchtower that once controlled access to the city. Our tour continues with a visit to the Temple of the Sun, Korikancha, over which the Convent of Santo Domingo was later built. According to legend, this temple was once entirely covered in gold leaf, astonishing the Conquistadors upon their arrival. Finally, we'll explore the Main Plaza and visit the Cathedral, home to valuable colonial paintings and artwork, including the Cross that arrived with the first Conquistadors. Notes: Please note: Shorts are not permitted in religious sites, and taking photos in the cathedral is prohibited. On Sunday mornings, the Koricancha is closed, so you'll only see the outside.
The Sacsayhuaman ticket is valid only for the specific date of the booked tour. It is non-refundable if changes to the tour date are made less than 7 days before the original tour date. A new ticket would need to be purchased (additional fee) if this happens.
