Accademia: full immersion in the art of Michelangelo to discover his most renowned work, 'David', and other important works of art such as 'I Prigioni' and 'San Matteo' and the 'Palestrina Pietà'.
The young Michelangelo carved David from a massive block of raw marble in three years, creating an imposing sculpture of absolute beauty, an icon of the Renaissance model. He depicted a magnificent young nude man at the height of his physical vigor, whose intense expression of strength and courage stemmed from an absolute faith in God, roses as a symbol of the power and invincibility of the Florentine Republic at the time of its greatest splendor.
Once the guided tour is over, you can stay in the museum.
Florence Duomo: Once inside the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, a treasure trove of priceless artistic treasures, you'll be immediately struck by the elegance of the three naves. Led by your expert guide, you'll admire the beauty of Bandinelli's splendid marble choir, the complex of precious stained-glass windows by Donatello, Ghiberti, and Andrea del Castagno, and the unique and mysterious clock by Paolo Uccello. You'll also be amazed to walk on a marvelous carpet of polychrome marble. Then, looking up, you'll see the immense and precious interior of the Dome, entirely frescoed by Vasari, the largest fresco in the world. Brunelleschi's famous Dome is the largest ever built in masonry and an incomparable icon of Renaissance architecture.
In Piazza del Duomo, next to the Cathedral, you also have the chance to visit the precious Museo della Misericordia and the great opportunity, on the 4th floor of the Museum, to enjoy an incredible view of Cathedral Square and its monuments, taking beautiful photos. From there, it seems you could even touch every monument! Notes: The pre-booking service ensures you avoid long lines (or the general admission line). Despite our reservations, during peak visitor periods, entry to the museums may be delayed due to: - Security checks at the entrance (metal detectors) - Maximum number of people allowed inside the Museum at any one time for security reasons.
Access to the Cathedral is only permitted with appropriate clothing: Entry is prohibited in shorts, bare shoulders, sandals, hats and sunglasses.
