- Monet de Giverny
In Giverny we will discover the house of the famous painter Claude Monet. A very flowery village, with its hollyhocks falling along the walls of the houses with wooden beams. Everything in the house is very well preserved and all the furniture and gardens are very well looked after!
It was here that the painter Claude Monet, coming by train to Normandy looking for a house to rent, discovered a landscape that dazzled him, jumped off the train and went looking for a place, where he lived until his death.
The city is internationally known thanks to Claude Monet, who lived there for 43 years. Many of his paintings were done in Giverny and just by looking at photos of the surrounding area, you can see where the painter got his inspiration from.
He painted the famous series of paintings called “Water Lilies” in Giverny. Monet based his paintings on the lake and the small Japanese bridge at his own home in the fall, because that was the time of year when the flowers fell over the lake. Today we still have the beautiful view that inspired Monet to paint.
