At Gruta Catedral (formerly Gruta São Mateus), your experience begins long before you enter the cave. The tour starts at the attraction's reception area, where visitors are invited to explore a Museum of Cultural History, which houses a valuable collection of antique artifacts used by the local population of Bonito, as well as an interesting collection of taxidermied animals, providing a true journey through the history, culture, and biodiversity of the region.
After this initial immersion, you follow a 320-meter interpretive trail, surrounded by nature, that leads to the entrance of the cave. During the journey, you can already feel the adventurous atmosphere and contemplate the typical landscape of the southern Mato Grosso cerrado, making the path part of the experience.
Upon entering the cave, a fascinating internal journey of approximately 180 meters begins, where visitors are enveloped in an impressive landscape filled with ancient rock formations. Inside, it is possible to observe speleothems of various shapes and sizes, such as stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, sculpted over thousands of years by the action of water and time.
Strategic lighting further enhances the details of the cave, creating a magical environment that awakens the enchantment and curiosity of everyone. Each step reveals new shapes, textures, and colors, making the tour a unique sensory experience that combines natural beauty, knowledge, and adventure.

The use of sneakers or sandals is mandatory.
Children must present an identity document (ID card or Birth Certificate).
The equipment needed for the tour is included in the price.
There is no lunch option on this tour; however, there is a reception area with drinks for sale and a souvenir shop.
Minimum age allowed: 5 years old.
We do not recommend the Caves for people with heart problems, mobility issues, or knee problems.
Families with children under 5 can hire a babysitter who is available at reception, or by informing us in advance we can arrange for a babysitter.
Organize the visitation in a way that allows parents to take turns visiting.
The client will receive the tour start time and itinerary 48 hours before departure.
The order of the tours is subject to change due to weather and operational conditions.
A representative from the agency will contact you to provide information about the tour, such as recommended clothing and tour times.
High season: Changes are only accepted with 72 hours' notice (considering business days), noting that any change requested by the client will be subject to cancellation policies, as well as availability.
Low season: Changes are only accepted with 48 hours' notice (considering business days), noting that any change requested by the client will be subject to cancellation policies, as well as availability.
EMBRATUR CANCELLATION RULES Normative Deliberation No. 161/95 Embratur:
* Cancellation is understood as the withdrawal from the trip and/or the contracted service, as well as changes to dates, communicated in writing (letter or email).
Cancellation policies will be applied according to the following percentages of the total package price (considering business days):
LOW SEASON – (TOURS)
Up to 3 days before check-in = 30% no-show rate (EXCEPT for Gruta do Lago Azul, which has a 100% no-show rate regardless of the date and cancellation period).
After that date, it is considered part of the complete show.
* No-show: Failure to appear without prior written notice on the scheduled arrival date will be considered a "no-show". NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.
* Cancellation after the start of the tour: Cancellation, as well as early departure for any reason, WILL NOT ENTITLE YOU TO ANY TYPE OF REFUND, CASH REIMBURSEMENT OR CREDIT FOR ANOTHER TOUR, resulting in the total loss of the amount paid for the package or tour.
HIGH SEASON – (OTHER TOURS)
Up to 15 days before check-in = 30% NO SHOW fee, after this date the full show fee (100%) will be charged.
* No-show: Failure to appear without prior written notice on the scheduled arrival date will be considered a "no-show". NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.
* Cancellation after the start of the tour: Cancellation, as well as early departure for any reason, WILL NOT ENTITLE YOU TO ANY TYPE OF REFUND, CASH REIMBURSEMENT OR CREDIT FOR ANOTHER TOUR, resulting in the total loss of the amount paid for the package or tour.
Accommodation in Bonito: Up to 30 days before check-in, a 30% no-show fee is charged; from 29 days until check-in, the full no-show fee is applied.
