The perfect combination of hiking in the Patagonian Andean forest, views of waterfalls, rivers, hanging glaciers and a visit to the Perito Moreno glacier (navigation and walkways) leaves visitors fascinated by our tour.
We depart from the Port of Punta Bandera. We begin our journey through the Iceberg Channel and then enter Mayo Bay on Lake Argentino. The Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro glaciers are located in an area where the only access is via the lake.
We'll disembark at Toro Bay accompanied by our guide, where we'll take an interpretive hike (700 meters) to observe the Patagonian Andean forest. We'll visit a waterfall, which gives rise to a beautiful stream, from where we can see a limestone rock formation. From the lakeshore, we can see the hanging glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro.
We returned to the boat and, in just another 15 minutes of sailing, we arrived at our next point...
We disembark at Cerro Negro and, with our guide, begin a hike of about 1,000 meters, entering the Patagonian Andean forest, following the course of a stream that takes us to the base of Cerro Negro, from where we can admire the marvelous Negro Glacier. This glacier, "suspended" on the mountainside, gives rise to numerous waterfalls, which give rise to the river we skirt on the way there and back.
Next, we head to Patagonia's most famous glacier, Perito Moreno. Unique in its beauty and grandeur, this enormous mass of ice originates in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and extends for 30 km until reaching its peak opposite the Magellan Peninsula, overlooking Lake Argentino, where its walls reach over 60 meters high. We'll embark on an unforgettable cruise along its north face and the area where it broke off.
Finally, we disembarked at Puerto Moreno and walked along the walkways. We returned to the boat and began the journey back to Punta Bandera.
