Your exploration will begin in the old Medici neighborhood. Through the heart of Florence, you'll also walk the same narrow streets the Medici walked, touching the stones used to build their residences, and see the same monuments they saw every day: the first example of construction. This is the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, their first residence in the San Lorenzo neighborhood, where their church and mausoleum-Medici Chapels are also located. A few steps away, you'll reach the incredible complex of monuments that characterize the religious center of Florence: the Cathedral with its incredible Brunelleschi dome, the Baptistery of San Giovanni with the Porta del Paradiso (Gates of Paradise), and Giotto's elegant bell tower, the most beautiful in all of Italy.
The tour continues along the lively Via Calzaioli, in the heart of the city, where you can admire the imposing and unique Church of Orsanmichele, a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic art, decorated with shrines featuring statues of the patron saints of the powerful medieval merchant guilds. . Then we arrive at the bustling Mercato della Paglia (Straw Market): don't forget to rub the nose of the famous "porcellino" (pig) and throw a coin in the fountain for good luck!
Continuing, you'll admire the romantic and picturesque Ponte Vecchio, Florence's oldest bridge, with its famous jewelry shops. Finally, we arrive at Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the city's political center. In this true 'open-air museum,' you'll be amazed to admire the beautiful Fountain of Neptune with its marvelous and imposing marble statue by Ammannati, and then, looking around, at the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including Cellini's Perseus and Gianbologna's The Rape of the Sabine Women. Dominating all this is the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with its crenellated Arnolfo Tower, one of Florence's most famous symbols, which you'll be able to admire in all its magnificence.
