4 Days – 3 Nights | Hiking through the mountains
The Inca Trail is one of the most famous and beautiful routes in Cusco, Peru, leading to Machu Picchu. Along the way, travelers experience a physical and spiritual pilgrimage, discovering breathtaking landscapes and archaeological wonders at every step.
DAY 1: CUSCO – PIACACUCHO - WAYLLABAMBA
We will be picked up from our accommodation in Cusco around 4:00 AM and will head to Piscacucho (Km 82), located 2,700 meters above sea level. From there, we will begin our hike to the campsite.
After a lunch break, we will continue hiking along the Urubamba River on flat terrain until we reach Miskay. There, we will climb to a viewpoint at the highest point of the mountain to see the impressive Inca city of Llactapata.
We will continue walking through the valley created by the Kusichaca River. This stretch takes about five hours, allowing us to appreciate the views, flora, and native fauna. Finally, we will arrive at the Wayllabamba campsite, located 3,000 meters above sea level, where we will spend the night.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMI WAÑUSQA STEP - PACCAYMAYU
We will wake up early, have breakfast, and continue on to tackle the most challenging part of the route. The trail is a steep climb where the landscape varies from mountainous to very dry, with little vegetation. We will pass through Abra Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman's Pass), located at 4,200 meters (13,000 feet). Here, we will have the opportunity to see domesticated llamas and alpacas.
After lunch, we will cross a cloud forest, home to various types of typical Andean birds. Descending, we will reach the Pacaymayo Valley, at 3,600 meters (12,000 feet), where we will camp for dinner and spend the night.

DAY 3: PACCAYMAYU – RUNKURAQHAY STEP – PHUYUPATAMARKA -WIÑAYHUAYNA
From Pacaymayo, we will ascend to the second pass, Abra Runkurakay, which is also an archaeological complex at 3,970 meters above sea level. We will descend towards Yanacocha and enter the cloud forest to reach the beautiful archaeological complex of Sayacmarca (3,624 m).
We will continue our route through an Inca tunnel until we reach the archaeological complex of Phuyupatamarca, which means "city above the clouds," as it is located at the highest point of the mountain. We will continue the hike down the long stone steps until we reach Wiñaywayna, home to an impressive Inca agricultural complex, where we will camp for the night.

DAY 4: WIÑAYHUAYNA – PUERTA DEL SOL – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO (6 km)
At 4:30 AM, we will begin our hike along a cobblestone road built by the Incas that leads directly to Machu Picchu. We will enter through the first checkpoint at the Sun Gate, known as Inti Punku, from where you will have your first view of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and watch the sunrise over the sacred Inca citadel.
Next, we'll take a three-hour tour with a specialized guide who will explain all the details of this incredible place. Finally, we'll have free time to enjoy on our own before resuming the final hike to Aguas Calientes (Optional bus transfer for US$12).
In Aguas Calientes, you will wait for the train to Ollantaytambo, where we will pick you up and take everyone back to Cusco.
