If you dream of experiencing Machu Picchu in a special way, the Short Inca Trail is the perfect choice. An incredible hike that combines breathtaking landscapes, fascinating archaeological sites, and a magical arrival at the Lost City of the Incas.
We will start the day at the Ollantaytambo train station, where we will board the train around 6 am heading towards kilometer 104 of the railway. That's where our trail begins. After the entrance control, we will meet our guide and start the hike.
We will hike for approximately 3 hours to the impressive archaeological site of Wiñaywayna, where we will pause to explore the site and listen to the guide's explanations. After lunch, we will continue for another 2 hours until we reach Intipunku, the Sun Gate, from where we will have our first unforgettable view of Machu Picchu. We will then walk for about 45 minutes to the Inca city, where we will have time to take photos and appreciate all the energy of the place.
On the second day, we will take a comprehensive guided tour of Machu Picchu lasting approximately 2.5 hours, learning about the history, mysteries, and architecture of this World Heritage Site. After the tour, we will have free time to explore on our own before returning to Aguas Calientes and boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.
