ITINERARY
Pick up from your hotel.
We'll begin our visit at Bodega El Catador, an artisanal winery, where we'll learn about the process of making artisanal pisco while tasting and enjoying its various varieties. Winner of national awards thanks to its original products, such as the semi-prepared Pisco Sour and the fine Pisco Cream.
We continue with a visit to the Lazo winery, where we'll taste the variety of wines and piscos produced. The pisco wines and cachinas are the main attractions of this tour. It's worth mentioning that Bodega Lazo preserves, in its authentic Spanish cellar from the 16th and 17th centuries, in addition to its wine products, another additional attraction: a rustic museum spontaneously established in the same cellar, where you can appreciate collectibles such as mummified trophy heads, ceramics, goldwork, remains of cloaks from pre-Hispanic cultures, and other items such as weapons of all types and from all eras; as well as paintings and stuffed animals, among other collectibles.
We'll visit the Tacama Winery. We'll begin our tour by admiring its bell tower, offering panoramic views of much of its cultivated land. We'll also see the various instruments used to make pisco and wine along the way. (On Monday, Tacama is closed; we'll head to the Caravedo Winery, a similar location.)
Over time, we'll see stills, gas cylinders, and more in the tasting room. The Tacama vineyard is located in one of the oldest Haciendas in the valley. Built in the 16th century, it boasts colonial architecture. Excellent-quality wines and piscos are produced here. When the Spanish arrived in Peru, they introduced the vineyard, and it spread rapidly. Carabantes created the Tacama vineyard in the Ica oasis, the oldest in Peru. The vineyard, which covers a total area of 180 hectares, is located in the Ica Valley, a fertile oasis surrounded by deserts, 300 km from Lima and 400 meters above sea level. It is one of the most important in the country.
