Activity description
Leaving the city of Ushuaia, heading southwest, we will travel along National Route No. 3.
On the eleven-kilometer drive between the park entrance and the city of Ushuaia, we'll stop at the golf course, where we'll have excellent panoramic views of the Beagle Channel, the Ushuaia Peninsula, and the Bridges, Willie, and Les Eclaireurs archipelagos.
We continue our tour to the entrance of the National Park, an area reserved for the protection of the Subantarctic Forest and native flora and fauna. We'll visit Ensenada Bay, from where we'll have excellent panoramic views of the Beagle Channel and its islands. Then, we'll board our catamaran to begin sailing toward Redonda Island.
After a 15-minute sail, we dock on this wonderful island, which offers unique views of the Beagle Channel and the National Park. Here, we'll have the option of taking a short, medium-to-easy hike, immersing ourselves in the Fuegian forests and ending at a panoramic viewpoint where you can take excellent photos.
After the visit, we will return to the catamaran to begin the return trip to Ensenada Bay and continue our tour.
Along the path surrounded by Lenga forests and peat bogs, we will reach Lake Acigami (formerly Lake Roca), a lake of glacial origin, with a surface area of 5.50 square kilometers, framed
through mountains and forests, where it is possible to see native birds.
A few minutes from Lake Acigami, we'll stop at the Alakush Visitor Center, where we'll have approximately 20 minutes to spare. There's a café, a restaurant, restrooms, a souvenir shop, and a small museum.
The final leg of the excursion takes us to Lapataia Bay, after crossing the archipelago of cormorants and peat bogs. In Lapataia Bay, in addition to the coastal coastline rich in mollusks and mussels, we'll find traces of the ancient Aboriginal people who inhabited the region. There, we'll have time to walk along the walkway, where we can take photos and enjoy the feeling of being at the end of the world.
From this point, the end of National Route No. 3, we will begin our return to the city of Ushuaia.
