Activity description
Be seduced by the timeless charm of Tuscan art cities, where the beauty of the monuments is linked to the rhythm of life that is still on a human scale and where every stone exudes centuries of history.
Through the typical Tuscan hills, we arrive in Siena, a splendid medieval city universally renowned for its artistic treasures, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Once in Siena, we'll visit the famous Piazza del Campo, with its distinctive shell shape.
Here you'll find the Palazzo Comunale (1298), flanked by the Torre del Mangia (1325), where the famous Palio race takes place every year. You can use your free time to visit the splendid Cathedral, one of the highest artistic expressions of the Middle Ages, and admire the splendid buildings and evocative churches along the lively, narrow streets. From Siena, we'll take a scenic road and admire the vineyards and olive groves in the heart of the Chianti region on our way to the ancient fortified village of Monteriggioni, a small gem built during the 13th century and embraced by its still-intact walls. Take a stroll within the narrow perimeter of the surrounding walls with eleven towers and discover a beautiful corner of Tuscany suspended in the Middle Ages.
A short distance away, on a pleasant farm surrounded by aromatic plants, you'll be served a lunch of typical Chianti products and a guided tasting of a selection of fine Chianti and Vernaccia wines, managed with passion and expertise by the farm's friendly owner. After lunch, we'll leave the farm and, a short distance away, we'll find San Gimignano, another beautiful town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its still-intact medieval urbanization with its numerous beautiful towers, hence the name "Manhattan of the Middle Ages." This town is also known for its Vernaccia wine, which is produced here. A stroll through the town center offers true artistic gems, including Piazza della Cisterna, the Dome, Palazzo del Podestà, and the Church of Sant'Agostino.
Another departure, this time to reach the famous city of Pisa, one of the most famous in the world, which awaits us with the sparkling view of Piazza dei Miracoli, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, where unparalleled marble masterpieces rise from the green lawn. The famous Leaning Tower, the magnificent Baptistery, the stunning Cathedral, and the Monumental Cemetery are pinnacles of Romanesque architecture from the 12th and 13th centuries, home to works of immense artistic value.
