Not only are they the original inhabitants of Morocco, but arguably as old as the world itself, the Berber people live their lives relatively unchanged and largely ignored by the rest of the world. The trek up the famous Berber Trail takes us directly to this remote and beautiful world, nestled high in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
The adventure begins in four-wheel drive, along rugged roads from Marrakech straight into the Atlas Mountains. The region's wild beauty lends a mystical air to the ascent as you pass through valleys and climb towering mountains. Picturesque villages, ancient structures, and most notably, smiling faces blend into the landscape, giving meaning to the history and culture that define this place. Depending on the season, you might encounter lush vegetation and sheep-covered slopes or impressive snow-capped peaks.
While the journey along the historic Berber Trail, its tribal villages, and the people are enough to leave you in awe, your trip to the grain silos in Tahanaout will complete your understanding of the simple and beautiful way the Berbers live their daily lives. You'll leave the Berber Trail with a historical understanding and a different perspective on life. Notes: Hotel pickup is included for hotels located in central Marrakech.
