Activity description
We'll board the train at the End of the World Station. On board, you can hear the story of the prisoners who came daily to this area to cut wood and enjoy magnificent landscapes, including the winding Pipo River, La Macarena waterfall, the tree cemetery, and the majestic lenga forest. You'll enjoy this experience aboard an old railway, with its steam locomotives and elegant carriages featuring large windows and a personalized audio system, allowing you to hear the story in seven different languages. This allows you not only to appreciate the surrounding nature but also to learn about a very important part of Ushuaia's history.
The journey continues to the National Park Station, admiring the magnificent scenery of the mountains and valleys near the border. Onboard each train, our professional tour guides will provide all the information related to the history of the original prison train and the diverse geographical features of the flora and fauna, as well as information about what you can see along the way, should you have any questions.
Upon arrival at the National Park Station, our final stop, your guide will be waiting to continue your tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park.
The National Park represents the southernmost protected area in Argentina. It is the only one with both a coastline and mountains.
Throughout the tour, we'll explore landscapes of great natural beauty, stopping at notable landmarks such as the Pipo River, Mount Susana, Lake Acigami, the Alakush Visitor Center, Laguna Verde, and the famous Lapataia Bay, where the legendary Pan-American Highway ends. We'll stop for photos and a short walk, which will be subject to the day's weather conditions.
The park's geography is as diverse as it is fascinating: rugged mountains, rivers, valleys, lakes, and the Beagle Channel coastline create an ideal setting for admiring the subantarctic forest at any time of year. Along the way, you might spot the Fuegian red fox and a wide variety of birds, such as the cachaña, the giant woodpecker, the rayadito, the Patagonian thrush, and the emblematic caranca goose, the symbol of the National Park.
At the end of the tour, we will return from the National Park to Ushuaia in a shared transfer.
