Activity description
Wake The Tiger is a self-guided journey of discovery and hyperreality through the kaleidoscopic realms of the imagination.
Wake The Tiger's supernatural experience is a self-guided exploration maze that begins in an abandoned paint factory before traveling to the Dream Factory and finally transcending into the OUTERverse.
For both young and young-at-heart, with over 40 spaces, the museum encourages visitors to discover and interact with incredible art. For those who value a deeper connection, immersion in the history behind this incredibly challenging alternative world is a must. We have roving animators who act as guides around the world to help you make the most of your visit. They are available to offer assistance, share their knowledge of history and art, and chat with all our visitors.
This self-discovery experience will take guests on a journey that pushes boundaries, where adventure is not just a destination, but a state of mind... some might say a dimension beyond imagination.
Notes:
Opening days:
During school holidays (as defined by Bristol City Council): every day
Outside school holidays: Wednesdays to Sundays
Opening hours: 10am to 6pm (last entry: 4:30pm)
Is the experience wheelchair accessible? Yes. We designed the park with accessibility in mind. Some areas have tighter spaces, which can make movement difficult. However, most areas offer alternative routes for manual wheelchair use.
Can I rent a wheelchair from you? Yes. We have a manual wheelchair available for advance reservation. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend contacting us as soon as possible.
Is the experience safe for people with epilepsy? A room called Dazzle in OUTERverse contains high-contrast, moving geometric patterns and is not suitable for people with photosensitivity or epilepsy, so the bypass route should be used. Dazzle can also cause nausea or a sense of disorientation. The rest of the experience (before and after the Dazzle room) incorporates low-intensity lighting effects, flashes, and various moving lighting effects that some guests may find triggering. For guests with photosensitivity or epilepsy, or those who cannot be exposed to strobe light, we recommend contacting us to discuss your specific needs before booking.
Are electric scooters allowed on the experiment? For health and safety reasons, we cannot allow electric scooters on the attraction. There is level access for electric wheelchairs throughout the attraction, however, there are some narrow areas and turning circles, so we ask that anyone visiting with an electric wheelchair bring a person with them to assist with navigation during the experience.
How do we ensure guests play safely? Your safety is our top priority at all times, and staff will be present throughout the experiment to assist you. If you have any questions, please speak to them. OUTERverse includes a slide in the room called Aetheria, which was designed and thoroughly tested and verified by experts. We've created rules to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Please take a moment to review our Slide Safety Rules below: No participants under 5 years of age. Participants must remove their shoes before descending the slide. For hygiene reasons, no bare feet are allowed on the slide. One participant at a time. Do not attempt to stand on the slide. Do not slide upside down. Do not use if you have a history of neck or back problems or if you suspect you are pregnant. Exit immediately at the bottom of the slide. Do not climb on the slide. Wake The Tiger is not responsible for any loss or damage that occurs on the premises. If the slide is a little scary, don't worry, there are stairs to the ground level.
Is there parking on site? We have a small on-site parking lot, including limited spaces for Blue Card holders, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Wake The Tiger is a pay-as-you-go parking lot with a payment machine located inside our ticket office. Please note that this is card/contactless only. Alternatively, you can also use the ECPparkbuddy app to validate your parking. Up to 3 hours cost £3.00. Each additional hour costs £1.00. When our parking lot is full, there is alternative parking at Bristol Fruit Market. This is at the top of Albert Road, costs £5 per day, and is less than a 5-minute walk away. Please note that the parking lot is only accessible during opening hours. Fees for releasing your vehicle (or other means of transportation) apply outside of these hours.
How long does the experience last? Once you pass through the portal, we don't offer navigation, as we encourage exploration and self-discovery. The experience is non-linear and completely self-guided, so you can spend anywhere from 40 minutes to 4 hours in the park—the choice is yours. At any point during your journey, you can take a break at the Guildhall Cafe Bar for a well-deserved rest and delicious food and a cold drink.
Do you have a café on-site? Yes. The Guildhall Café Bar offers a wonderful variety of fresh, homemade, and seasonal food, available daily. Paninis, soups, pastries, and sandwiches are available all day, while hot dishes from the lunch and dinner menus are available daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We also have a full bar serving hot, cold, and alcoholic beverages, as well as some mouth-watering sweet and savory treats. Items are subject to change, as we source local produce whenever possible. Please note that the Guildhall is only available to Wake The Tiger guests.
Can I bring my own food and drink? Only food and drinks purchased at The Guildhall Café Bar may be consumed on-site, except for baby food or for medical reasons. No food or drinks are permitted during the experience.
Do you have lockers or a changing room? We don't have lockers or a changing room at this time, and visitors must keep their belongings with them at all times.
Is Wake the Tiger suitable for children? Yes, children of all ages are welcome. The experience includes some dark spaces, lighting effects, and soundscapes that may be frightening for more sensitive and very young viewers. That said, we had several adventurous children who loved the experience with us. Please note that strollers must be left at reception, and we ask that babies be accommodated in baby carriers.
Can children enter unaccompanied? Only those over 16 years of age are allowed to enter Wake The Tiger. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please note that only ticket holders are allowed to enter Wake The Tiger, including The Guildhall Café Bar.
Are dogs allowed? We welcome service dogs and can provide bowls for them. These are provided at the main entrance. The nearest restroom for service dogs is in the park, across the street from the attraction. Due to the nature of the location, we cannot allow service dogs to enter for training. Please note that there are loud noises, mist, and smells (not unpleasant!) that can be confusing for service animals. Service dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
Please note: Only those with a ticket are allowed to enter Wake The Tiger (experience, restrooms, cafe or gift shop).
Strollers, baby strollers, scooters, and electric scooters are not permitted on the experience due to the nature of the space. All strollers can be parked at the ticket booth upon arrival.
