Begin the tour in Barranco, Lima's most bohemian suburb. We'll visit Barranco Central Park, its Municipal Library, the traditional Bridge of Sighs, the colonial houses, and its famous boulevard. Then, we'll descend along the South Pacific Coast Highway to Pachacamac, the most important ceremonial center on the Peruvian coast during the pre-Inca and Inca periods. Over the centuries, Pachacamac was occupied by various Andean civilizations, such as the Lima, the Wari, the Ichma, and finally the Inca Empire. However, the Pachacamac Oracle has always remained a religious center. We'll see several pyramidal temples and enclosures from different periods: the Adobitos and Ancient Temple (1st Century AD), the Painted Temple (8th Century AD), a pyramid with a ramp (13th Century AD), and the Temple of the Sun (15th Century AD). In addition to the ruins, we will also visit an on-site museum that displays pottery, textiles, shell and stone ornaments, as well as the wooden Pachacamac idol found during excavations (1938).
