The adventure begins in El Calafate, traveling along Route 11 along the awe-inspiring waters of Lake Argentino. Along the 80-km, fully paved route toward the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier, each kilometer offers breathtaking views. From the outset, Patagonian beauty surrounds us: to the right, the immense Lago Argentino and its Redonda Bay, home to a diverse avian fauna. Among the most notable inhabitants are the elegant black-necked swan, vibrant flamingos, steamer ducks, curious coots, and majestic cauquenes accompany us with their flights and colors. The gold of the countryside, produced by native grasses such as coirón, colors the horizon and reminds us of the uniqueness of the Patagonian steppe. The first 40 km pass through this vast steppe before entering Los Glaciares National Park, where the landscape changes dramatically. We enter the magical Patagonian Andean forest, dominated by ancient trees of the notofagus family: ñires, ginjas, and lengas, dotted here and there with exotic cinnamon. In spring, the flowers enchant us with their vibrant colors, and the intense red of the notro tree stands out like a jewel among the vegetation. As we continue, we reach the famous "Curva de los Sighs," so named because it's the first point from which the imposing Perito Moreno Glacier can be seen. Here, we make a brief stop to take photos of this natural wonder, a sight that will leave even the most experienced traveler breathless. The tour continues to Puerto Bajo las Sombras, from where we head to the walkways that offer multiple balconies with panoramic views of the glacier. These trails allow for walks that bring travelers closer to the most impressive and inspiring corners of this icy colossus. Finally, after some free time to explore, we returned to El Calafate, taking with us a day filled with incomparable landscapes and the magic of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
